Metal Roofing Benefits
Metal is an excellent, versatile roofing material that works great with most applications. However, to be able to decide whether it is right for your particular building, you need to know as much as possible about the option – here are some of the most important commercial metal roofing features:
- Longevity – with proper attention and care, metal roofs can easily last for up to five decades;
- Resistance to the elements – metal roofs can stand up to heavy rain, snow, even to high winds, but they are quite sensitive to the impact potentially caused by hail or by large debris carried by the winds, such as tree limbs that have been ripped off old trees;
- Noise – one of the most common arguments against metal roofs is that they are noisy when they come into contact with rain or hail or when birds and other critters walk on them. While this is true, the problem can be easily solved by installing suitable insulation under the roof;
- Thermal efficiency – some alloys used for making metal roofing materials are less conductive than others, so you will need to perform some research about your options in terms of the metal variety. However, the issue can be easily solved, the same way as with noise, by insulating the roof.
