Snow wallops southeastern Colorado, breaking trees and knocking out power – KRDO Pueblo County bore the brunt of a spring snowstorm that moved into southern Colorado Friday night.
Snow stacked up several inches deep in Pueblo and Pueblo West.
Thousands lost power overnight as tree branches broke under the weight of the snow and crashed down on power lines.
Heavy snow buries Colorado City
The situation in La Junta is similar to the situation in Pueblo. A large amount of heavy, wet snow has fallen, putting a strain on trees.
The southern half of Colorado Springs only picked up light snow accumulations overnight. Roads in this area are just wet.
Heavier amounts of snow fell across northern Colorado Springs, where some accumulation did occur on the roads. If you have to travel across northern Colorado Springs this morning, you should plan to encounter slushy areas as well as a few slick spots.
